MEET OUR TEAM
ALEXA GUTIERREZ- PRESIDENTHi everyone! My name is Alexa and I’m honored to be the President of 27 HB for the 2023-24 school year. I joined 27 Heartbeats two years ago after learning about the club’s contributions to veterinary medicine in other countries. I’ve always been dedicated to helping underserved communities and I wanted to get involved with clubs and clinics that have similar missions of giving back to the community and helping animals in need. As a pre-vet student, I am passionate about making veterinary care accessible and will continue to work towards that goal through 27 HB. ANUSHKA PANJWANI - TreasurerHi everyone! My name is Anushka and I’m so excited to be serving as treasurer this year for 27HB. I’ve always had a passion for helping animals abroad, especially in countries where veterinary care is not easily accessible. So, when I joined 27HB last year, I was super excited to help the club further its mission, and as an officer this year I hope to make an even bigger impact. I love the wide range of volunteer opportunities we provide for students and the amazing people I have already met through it. My goal is to hopefully attend veterinary school after undergrad and pursue my dream of helping animals in need! Rosie THIENPAITOON - public relationsHello! My name is Rosie Thienpaitoon and I am a second year Animal Science major. I am an international student from Thailand with a dream to become a vet one day. My goal is to be a good clinician and help the strays in my community. I am so excited to be one of the officer in 27Heartbeats. I love graphic designs and I really hope you all enjoy my design as well. I hope this year goes by really well and I can't wait to get to meet everyone. Sophie buckley- donations coordinatorHi everyone, I’m Sophie! I’m graduating in December with a B.S. in biological sciences and a minor in archaeology. Science has always been my favorite subject, closely followed by history. For as long as I can remember I’ve loved working with animals, but wasn’t certain if the veterinary field was right for me. Once I started interning at a clinic, I found I have a passion for vet med. I’m fascinated by the science of medicine and find using it to support animals incredibly fulfilling. I currently work as a veterinary technician in the UCD Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital’s small animal ER. I’m excited to bring my passion for providing veterinary care to those most in need to the position of Donations Coordinator! When I’m not in scrubs or class I like baking, hiking, horseback riding and reading. |
CHESHTA SHARMA - VICE PRESIDENTHi, my name is Cheshta Sharma. I am really grateful to serve as the Vice President of 27 Heartbeats for the 2023-2024 school year. I joined 27 Heartbeats during my freshmen year. I was initially interested in the club when I heard about the various opportunities and volunteer work you get to do through the club. Through the club, I was able to meet like-minded people interested in making an impact on the lives of animals. As the Vice President of 27 Heartbeat, I hope to serve animals who do not have a home and specifically target animal homelessness. I joined 27 heartbeats my freshman year and went on to join their loop abroad trip to Thailand, which lexi and I will be leading this summer! I loved the trip and the group of friends I made as well as a community that has similar interests and values to me! Now I work at front street animal shelter as an intern, have been fostering kittens this summer and lead the 27 heartbeats group volunteers to front streets community vaccine clinics! I aspire to work in a non-profit animal organization, shelter or sanctuary in my future career!
Brooke Hare - Volunteer COORDINATORHi! My name is Brooke and I am so excited to be the Volunteer Coordinator for the 2023-2024 school year! I recently joined 27 heartbeats last year after learning about all of the volunteer opportunities that the club offers! I wanted to get more involved in my community through helping animals and this was a great way to do it! I also love the impact that this club has on animals globally and as a pre-vet undergrad, it really makes me feel like I’m making an impact in a field I’m so passionate about! I love volunteering and I hope to provide many great volunteer opportunities that 27 heartbeat members will enjoy. LEXI KRAJESKI- LOOP ABROAD CHAIR
Hey! My name is Lexi and I am honored to continue my position as your Loop Abroad Coordinator this year. I joined because the club’s mission of volunteering locally and donating supplies abroad to help animals worldwide stuck with me. I went on a Loop Abroad trip to Costa Rica in 2021 to personally gain experience abroad but left with a greater understanding and appreciation of One Health and conservation. I just applied to veterinary school for exotics and wildlife medicine and hope to continue my education in this field because of what I experienced; I am very passionate about what I learned and I am really excited to bring that all to you! |
